How to Set Up IPTV on Smart TV via Smart STB (2026 Guide)
Smart STB is a Smart TV app that turns Samsung, LG, and other supported TVs into a MAG-style IPTV set-top box: install it from your TV’s app store, grab the device’s Software and Virtual MAC addresses, activate a free 7-day trial, then enter your IPTV provider’s portal URL to start streaming live channels, on-demand content, and a full EPG — no separate box required.

Unlike app-based players that use a username and password (Xtream Codes), Smart STB authenticates through a Stalker Portal, the same protocol used by physical MAG boxes. That means every device running Smart STB gets its own unique Virtual MAC address, and your IPTV provider registers that MAC on their server rather than issuing you a login. If you already know MAG boxes, the interface will feel instantly familiar; if not, our guides on what a MAG box is and what a MAG portal is cover the background.
Smart STB is distributed through Google Play, the Amazon Appstore, Samsung Tizen, and other regional stores, which is why it is one of the most widely compatible portal-based IPTV apps for Smart TVs. Downloads and account management happen at billing.smart-stb.net.
Is Smart STB Right for You? Portal vs. Xtream Codes Apps
Before you install anything, it helps to know what makes Smart STB different from app-based IPTV players like TiviMate or IBO Player. The table below compares the two approaches so you can pick the right one for your setup.
| Feature | Smart STB (Stalker Portal) | Xtream Codes apps (TiviMate, IBO Player, etc.) |
|---|---|---|
| Login method | Virtual MAC address, registered by provider | Username, password, and server URL |
| Interface | MAG-style portal, categorised by bouquet | App-native grid/list, more customisable |
| App cost | Free 7-day trial, then paid licence | Usually free or one-time purchase |
| Multi-device use | One Virtual MAC per device/app instance | Limited by provider’s connection count |
| Best for | Providers who issue MAG/portal credentials | Providers who issue Xtream Codes logins |
RevoIPTV supports both methods, so if your subscription came with a username/password instead of a portal URL, see the RevoIPTV applications page for an Xtream Codes-compatible app instead of Smart STB.
Step-by-Step: Setting Up IPTV on Smart TV with Smart STB
Step 1 — Install Smart STB on Your Smart TV
Open your TV’s app store — Samsung Apps on Tizen models, the LG Content Store on webOS models, or Google Play/Amazon Appstore on Android-based and Fire TV devices. Search for Smart STB, select the official listing, install it, and launch the app.
Step 2 — Find Your MAC Addresses
Smart STB uses two separate MAC addresses, and mixing them up is the single most common setup mistake.
- When the app loads, wait for the Loading Portal message and press Enter on your remote to interrupt it.
- Go to Settings > Smart STB Settings.
- Open Device Info.
- Note both values, which look like a standard MAC address (e.g. 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX):
- Software MAC — used only to activate your Smart STB app licence on the Smart STB website.
- Virtual MAC — the one you give to your IPTV provider (such as RevoIPTV) so they can register your device on their server.
Write both down before continuing. For more on why this matters, see our article on MAC addresses on MAG boxes.
Step 3 — Activate the Smart STB Trial Period
Smart STB requires an app licence tied to your Software MAC. New installs get a free 7-day trial.
- On a phone or computer, go to billing.smart-stb.net/index.php.
- Click TRY & BUY, then MY LICENSE.
- Create a free account if you do not already have one.
- Enter your Software MAC address and Virtual MAC address when prompted.
- Enter the Portal URL your IPTV provider gave you in the Portal Address field.
- Submit the form. Order Status should change to Active, confirming the trial has started.
Back on the TV’s Device Info screen, the trial expiry date will now appear next to your licence status.
Step 4 — Upgrade to a Paid Smart STB Licence
To keep using Smart STB after the trial ends, buy a licence from the same site.
- Log in to the Smart STB website and open MY LICENSE.
- Click Active next to your device entry.
- Click Upgrade and choose monthly, yearly, or lifetime.
- Complete payment. The TV’s Device Info page will show Paid status (lifetime plans show Never for expiry).
How to Add or Change the IPTV Portal Address in Smart STB
With your Smart STB licence active, point the app at your IPTV provider’s Stalker Portal URL. RevoIPTV supplies this URL on subscribing — if you have not signed up yet, start a free IPTV trial first to get your portal credentials.
Option A — Add the Portal Directly in the App
- Launch Smart STB. When Loading Portal appears, press Enter.
- Go to Smart STB Settings > Portal.
- In Name 1, type a label such as RevoIPTV.
- In URL 1, paste the portal URL from your provider.
- Press Save on the remote.
- Go back and select Restart Portal so the app reloads and connects.
Option B — Change the Portal Address via the Smart STB Website
- Log in to billing.smart-stb.net.
- Go to MY LICENSE > Active.
- Click Change Portal URL at the bottom of the page.
- Enter the new address and save; it takes effect next time the app loads on your TV.

Supported Smart TVs and Devices
Smart STB’s compatibility is broad but not universal, and it changes by platform generation. Check the table below before you buy a licence.
| Platform | Typical support |
|---|---|
| Samsung Tizen | Most models from 2016 onward, via Samsung Apps |
| LG webOS | Most models from 2014 onward, via LG Content Store |
| Android TV / Google TV | Supported via Google Play |
| Amazon Fire TV | Supported via Amazon Appstore, on some app-store regions |
| Philips and other Android-based Smart TVs | Supported where the manufacturer’s store carries the app |
If your TV or store region does not list Smart STB, do not assume you are stuck with a MAG box — the RevoIPTV applications page lists alternative apps that work with the same subscription.
Tips and Troubleshooting
Smart STB shows a blank or loading screen
This almost always means the portal URL is wrong or the Virtual MAC has not been registered with your provider. Re-check the URL under Smart STB Settings > Portal, then confirm with your provider that the Virtual MAC is active on their system.
Trial expired and channels stopped working
The Smart STB app itself needs a paid licence after 7 days. Log in to billing.smart-stb.net and upgrade. This is separate from your IPTV subscription — both the app licence and the subscription need to be active at the same time.
I only have a username and password, not a portal URL
Smart STB only works with MAG/Stalker portal credentials. If your provider issued Xtream Codes login details instead, Smart STB will not connect — use an Xtream Codes-compatible app from the RevoIPTV applications page instead.
My Smart TV model is not listed on the Smart STB site
Check the current compatibility list on the Smart STB website. Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, and Android-based Smart TVs are generally supported; older or unusual firmware versions sometimes are not.
Channels load but the EPG is empty
EPG data comes from the portal. Confirm with your provider that EPG is included on your plan and the portal URL is correct, then allow 5–10 minutes for the guide to populate after the first load.
I replaced my TV — do my channels transfer automatically?
No. A new TV generates a new Virtual MAC address, so you must register that new MAC with your IPTV provider and re-enter the portal URL in Smart STB on the new device before channels will load.

FAQ
What is Smart STB and how does it work for IPTV on Smart TV?
Smart STB is a Smart TV app that emulates a MAG set-top box using the Stalker Portal protocol. You install it on your TV, activate a licence using the device’s Software MAC, then point it at your IPTV provider’s portal URL — after which it loads your live TV channels, on-demand content, and EPG just like a physical MAG box would.
Do I need both a Smart STB licence and an IPTV subscription?
Yes — they are separate. Smart STB is the player app and charges its own licence fee after a free 7-day trial. Your IPTV subscription (such as RevoIPTV) is the content source. Both must be active for channels to work.
What is the difference between Software MAC and Virtual MAC in Smart STB?
The Software MAC activates your Smart STB app licence on the Smart STB website. The Virtual MAC is what you give your IPTV provider to register your device on their server — it functions like the hardware MAC on a physical MAG box.
Which Smart TVs support Smart STB?
Smart STB works on Samsung Tizen TVs, LG webOS TVs, Android-based Smart TVs, and Amazon Fire TV devices, with availability depending on your app store region. The current compatibility list and per-platform downloads are on the Smart STB website at billing.smart-stb.net.
Can I use Smart STB with a username and password instead of a portal URL?
No. Smart STB only supports MAG/Stalker Portal-style authentication via Virtual MAC address. If your provider gave you Xtream Codes username/password credentials instead, you need a different app — see the RevoIPTV applications page for compatible options.
Can I switch IPTV providers without reinstalling Smart STB?
Yes. Update the Portal URL in Smart STB Settings > Portal (or via Change Portal URL on the Smart STB website), then restart the portal. You will also need to give your Virtual MAC address to the new provider so they can register it.
What happens to my Smart STB setup if I get a new TV?
A new TV generates a new Virtual MAC address, so your old registration will not carry over. Find the new device’s Virtual MAC in Smart STB Settings > Device Info, send it to your provider to register, then re-enter your portal URL to reconnect.
